Lime Rock Park, a racing circuit in Lakeville, Connecticut, has announced Toyo Tires as the official tire for the upcoming Historic Festival 42, set to take place August 30 to September 2.
This event will also feature a new class, the Turn of the Century World Challenge, which will spotlight production-based street stock race cars from the 1995-2005 era, prepared for competitions such as the SCCA World Challenge and the Motorola Cup. Historic Festival 42 will celebrate Ford Motorsports and the Ford Mustang as the featured marque.
The festivities will begin on August 29 with the Historic Festival Parade presented by NBT Bank, a 17-mile tour through the area. The event will continue with on-track competition from Friday through Monday, featuring various historic racing classes. On Sunday, the Lime Rock Concours and Gathering of the Marques will display nearly 1,000 enthusiast cars and motorcycles around the Lime Rock circuit.
As part of the new partnership, Toyo Tires has been designated as the spec tire for the Turn of the Century World Challenge group. Competitors will race on the new Toyo Proxes R DOT competition tire, designed for dry road racing and high-performance driving, offering improved lap times, stability and responsiveness.
“We are excited to welcome Toyo Tires as a key partner for this year’s Historic Festival,” said Lime Rock Park CMO Jamie Kistner. “Their commitment to innovation and performance is perfectly aligned with the spirit of our event. The Toyo Proxes R tires has exceptional grip and durability, which make it an ideal choice for our competitive racing classes.”
The new Proxes R DOT competition tire, featuring a new tread compound and reinforced sidewall, is manufactured in Toyo Tires’ facility in Japan and is tailored for use on tracks like Lime Rock Park.
Previously, the company also provided spec tires for the World Challenge series in the early 2000s, the same era of cars featured in the new Turn of the Century World Challenge group at Historic Festival 42.
“At Toyo Tires, we pride ourselves on producing quality, high-performance products that meet the incredible demands of competitive racing,” said Stan Chen, senior manager of events, sponsorships and motorsports, Toyo Tire USA. Corp. “We are excited to partner with Lime Rock Park to showcase our Proxes R tire at the Historic Festival 42.”
