Davanti Tyres has announced a new technical partnership with 750 Motor Club’s new Swift Sport Challenge. As of January 2025, the Protoura Race tire will become the control tire of the championship – a new entry-level formula.
At the core of the Swift Sport Challenge are various new concepts that aim to reduce the ‘cost to be competitive’, with regulations set to include details such as incentivizing road-going cars, disincentivizing spending on pre-race test days, sharing car setup data and removing the ability to use costly performance-enhancing datalogging equipment.
In line with the low-cost racing model, the Protoura Race has been selected as most suitable for novice drivers and experienced racers alike, having been specifically designed for the track. Its semi-slick tread design provides a combination of dry grip and control in the wet without compromising speed.
Supplied and fitted by BMTR Motorsport, the tire features a directional tread pattern to provide predictable control in all conditions; enhanced carcass strength to provide direct feedback to the driver and control under high cornering forces; and a new compound with added grip for greater braking and acceleration power.
Davanti Tyres decals will feature on all race cars, and drivers will benefit from free tire giveaways in a random draw at all 2025 Swift Sport Challenge events.
“At Davanti Tyres, we’re really pleased to work with 750 Motor Club and see our first-ever track tire become the control tire for the Swift Sport Challenge, supporting a new entry-level formula that aims to reduce the cost to be competitive and generally be more accessible,” said Sean Maddocks, Davanti Tyres sales director for UK & Ireland. “Despite its competitive price, the Protoura Race’s testing credentials are ahead of the benchmarks set by similarly priced competitors, thanks to rigorous testing and development at the Idiada facilities in Spain and iconic motor racing circuits such as Silverstone and Spain’s Calafat Circuit. It will be great to show the racers and fans the on-track performance of this tire.”
“As the Home of Affordable Motorsport, 750 Motor Club is delighted to announce the Swift Sport Challenge’s partnership with Davanti Tyres,” added Giles Groombridge, managing director at 750 Motor Club. “The first year of a new championship is an exciting time, and to have the support of Davanti from the start is invaluable. The brand and tire align with our aim of the next level of low-cost circuit racing in an ever more challenging economic climate, whilst drivers can benefit from free giveaways and a control tire that is suitable for experienced racers yet very forgiving and predictable for novice newcomers.”
The partnership begins in January 2025, with the Protoura Race tire starting a race as control tire of the championship for the first time in April at Donington Park.
The news comes on the heels of another deal for Davanti: a technical and commercial partnership with Mini Challenge Clubsport on a three-year contract commencing in January 2025.
