The road-legal ContiAttack SM 2 succeeds the ContiAttack SM EVO and has been designed with the unique selling point of being a street-legal tire “developed specifically for the Supermoto segment”.
The tire uses Continental’s BlackChili Compound, a technology that combines the latest polymers with specially developed carbon black particles and filler materials, and has been designed for improved track performance and mileage.
Continental states that the tire prioritizes stability and damping during the Supermoto driving style, ensuring optimal traction in extreme braking and acceleration scenarios, high lean angles and quick warm-up times.
This tire has two new features compared to its predecessor, which have been designed to maximize driving pleasure. They are: the GripLimitFeedback technology, which provides feedback on coefficient of friction changes for enhanced control; and RainGrip, which helps improve wet grip through a specially activated silica mixture.
Continental reports that the ContiAttack SM 2 has achieved a 28% longer mileage than its predecessor, thanks to increased tread depth at the front and rear. The tire builds on the experience gained since the introduction of the ContiAttack SM in 2011. It will be available in the first quarter of 2024, with additional dimensions coming in the second half of the year.
The ContiAttack SM 2 also features certain technologies carried over from the ContiAttack SM EVO: MultiGrip for consistent grip levels, TractionSkin for immediate grip, and the ZeroDegree steel-belt construction for stability at high speeds.
Rafael Kascha, product developer of motorcycle tires at Continental, said, “During development, we have succeeded in significantly improving lap times in both dry and wet conditions. At the same time, we have achieved up to 28% higher mileage for longer riding fun per set of tires.”
