Nynas has officially opened its new Rubber Compounding Laboratory at the Global Technology Centre in Nynäshamn, Sweden, where it will develop specialty tire and rubber oils.
During the inauguration ceremony, Mika Lahtinen, technical manager TYR, and CEO Gert Wendroth, gave visitors an exclusive tour to see the new equipment up close and personal.
The inventory includes a 1.5-liter intermeshing rubber mixer and a two-roll mill, which are used to prepare rubber and TPE materials, as well as for dynamic mechanical analysis. The latter is used to study the viscoelastic properties of polymers and can indicate, for example, the wet grip and rolling resistance of a rubber material.
Equipment will also be used to measure important rubber properties such as viscosity, curing rates, traction properties and abrasion resistance. The new capabilities will enable scientists to evaluate the performance of different oils in rubber.
Visit Nynas at Tire Technology Expo 2018 in Hannover, Germany. The company will be at booth C520.
