Toyo Tire Corporation’s US subsidiary, Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing (TNA), has manufactured its 50 millionth tire. The tire that rolled off the production line was a Ridge Grappler for light trucks, sold under the Nitto brand, in size 35 x 12.50 R20 LT 125Q 12PR.
TNA is currently in the fifth stage of a production capacity expansion. New equipment that will come online in April will boost the factory’s annual capacity by 1.2 million tires (converted for passenger vehicle tires).
TNA began operations in December 2005. Tires are built there using the company’s high-quality, highly automated system badged ATOM (Advanced Tire Operation Module). This consists mainly of large diameter tires for light trucks, large pickup trucks and SUVs.
The tire manufacturer has gradually expanded TNA’s production capacity in order to meet the increased demand for tires for light trucks in the North American market. In 2016 the total number of tires manufactured reached 30 million, and in 2017, 40 million.
