Premium tire manufacturer Hankook is gearing up for a significant enhancement to its European Plant with the approval of a new truck bus radial (TBR) production line at its Rácalmás facility in Hungary. The decision was greenlit by the board of directors on November 23.
Established in 2007, Hankook’s Rácalmás plant has played a pivotal role in the company’s European expansion strategy. With its third phase of construction complete, the European plant is equipped with manufacturing facilities capable of producing 17 million passenger car and light truck (PCLT) tires annually. The plant secured the prestigious International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus certification, earlier this year.
Hankook is set to invest approximately €540m (US$589m) in this expansion project, with a completion anticipated in 2027. The initiative is expected to generate around 450 new jobs.
Once finalized, the Rácalmás plant is projected to manufacture 2,380 units of TBR products daily, reaching a total annual output of 800,000 units. Currently operating eight production sites globally, Hankook maintains a global capacity of about 102 million tires per year.
