Cooper Tire Serbia, a subsidiary of the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, has announced that construction is underway to enable an increase in production capacity at its Kruševac tire manufacturing plant.
The company hopes that the investment will allow it to produce new, larger diameter tires of the type demanded in Europe and other global markets. It states that total annual production capacity at the Kruševac plant will increase by approximately one-third when the project is completed later this year, with the factory’s footprint allowing for a further doubling of capacity in future.
Brad Hughes, Cooper president and chief executive officer, explained, “This project will enable the facility to manufacture light truck tires, including 4×4 tires, and large diameter tires up to 22in in addition to the passenger car and sport utility vehicle (SUV) tires it currently produces.”
