A Continental tire plant in Lousado, Portugal, has received the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus, in recognition of its compliance with specific sustainability standards.
The certification also indicates transparency in terms of traceability of the raw materials used in Continental’s production processes at the facility. By certifying the raw materials used, the company can ensure traceability of materials from sustainable sources.
Continental’s UltraContact NXT is manufactured at the Lousado plant and features up to 65% renewable, recycled and mass balance certified materials.
“The certification underscores our strong commitment to more transparency along the entire supply chain, while enabling the introduction of new and more sustainable materials,” said Jorge Almeida, head of sustainability tires, Continental. “We want to extend the internationally recognized ISCC PLUS certification to other of our tire plants as well.”
