To meet the growing demand for its agricultural tires, BKT has announced the expansion of production capacity at its Bhuj plant in the state of Gujarat, India.
The company has invested US$103.3m to expand the Bhuj plant over a site of 5ha. This will add 50,000 metric tons of tire manufacturing capacity when the facility is fully operational in six months’ time. The production plant features state-of-the-art machinery and infrastructure.
BKT has already produced the first radial agricultural tire at the expanded plant, less than a year since the building project began back in May 2021.
“The worldwide demand for agricultural tires is on the upswing. There is a strong indication that growth in this sector is here to stay and, in keeping with the company vision of growth and quality, the present expansion would meet the expectations from our loyal customers,” commented Arvind Poddar, chairman and managing director at BKT.
He continued, “During one of the most difficult times that the world has seen by way of the pandemic in 2021, we adopted a strategy that helped us satisfy even our most demanding customers and deliver our products as per their requirements. We truly feel that it is time to act and put our best foot forward to meet our commitment to the rising needs of our customers. This expansion is our answer to the universal demand.”
