Kumho has announced that it has been appointed sole tire supplier for Renault’s latest hybrid compact SUV, the Arkana. The company’s top-selling model, the Ecsta HS51, will be supplied to the French manufacturer in sizes 215/60R17 and 215/55R18.
According to Kumho, the HS51 has been continuously developed and upgraded, with Kumho conducting an array of simulations that utilized virtual product development (VPD) techniques alongside measurement devices to identify optimum specifications. For example, anti-wear rubber and high-grip resin were chosen to deliver maximum braking performance and wear resistance.
The Arkana is currently available in France, Germany, Italy and Spain, with pre-orders in the UK estimated to reach customers by autumn 2021.
Kumho previously and successfully supplied tires for the Renault Captur and Koleos. “We are excited to be providing tires for the new Arkana and, in line with the trend that has seen SUVs overtake saloons in popularity, will continue striving to make quality SUV tires that deliver ever more value for our customers,” commented Kim Insoo, senior vice president of OE sales at Kumho Tire.
