Toyo Tire and Rubber Co. is to relocate its headquarters from Nishi-ku, Osaka, to Itami, in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan in order to improve cooperation and decision making by centralizing functions in one location. The tire maker is to move into a new six-story building adjacent to Toyo’s Tire Technical Center. Operations at the new headquarters will begin on May 29, 2017.
In May 2012, the functions of the Tokyo headquarters were dissolved and integrated and consolidated in the Osaka facility. In November 2013, the Corporate Technology Center (in Kawanishi, Hyogo) was opened as a base for basic research and development. This relocation brings the headquarters, technology development teams, and R&D functions closer together.
The company has restructured the former divisional headquarters structure and in January of this year launched a new managerial system with an organization built around each function that eliminates the barriers between divisions.
