South Korean tire manufacturer Kumho has achieved an a ‘Good’ rating for its ECSTA HS52 in a recent tire performance test by European automobile association Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC).
The ECSTA HS52 summer tire, designed for European roads and climatic conditions, finished third in the tests after tires from Continental and Michelin.
The test compared the performance of summer tires (size 215/55R17) from 16 manufacturers. Using a Volkswagen T-Roc, the test focused on driving safety, which included wet and dry road performance, and environmental balance covering mileage, wear resistance, efficiency, noise levels and sustainability.
The ECSTA HS52’s tread features a block pattern designed to enable the tire to maintain consistent levels of grip, and its rigid shoulder blocks have been designed to enhance steering performance for improved driving safety.
Seonghak Song, senior vice president of Kumho Tire’s PC Tyre Development 2, said, “This outstanding test result from an organization with significant influence in Europe and around the world demonstrates the technological prowess of Kumho Tyre.”
