Mesnac has helped formulate four international RFID tire tag standards in China which focus on the technology itself, embedding, testing and coding. They are the first batch of standards from the Chinese tire industry to be officially approved by ISO and are expected to become the first ISO standards to regulate the application of RFID tags in tires.
The ISO/TC31/WG10 working group was established in October last year. Mesnac’s Dong Lanfei is convener of the group, and Pierre Loiret from Michelin is co-convener. The standards were officially filed for application in June 2015.
A meeting was recently held in Brussels with 24 experts from China, France, USA, Italy, Germany and the UK in attendance, who received great support from industry organizations.
The second meeting of the working group is expected to be held in December. Experts will continue the discussion and review of the drafts of the standards, and aim to promote the work to progress from the WD (working group draft) stage to CD (committee draft) stage.
