Pirelli has appointed a new CEO in Germany. Michael Wendt, former MD of the technical department, succeeds Frank J Delesen, who left the company for personal reasons by mutual agreement.
Michael Wendt, a qualified physicist, began his career at Pirelli in 1989. After holding various positions in tire development at the site in Breuberg, Germany, he moved to the group headquarters in Milan, Italy, in 2002 where he worked as manager for high performance and UHP tires and research and advance development. In 2007, Wendt returned to Breuberg as MD for research and development. In summer of 2013, Pirelli Germany restructured the technical division and expanded Michael Wendt’s area of responsibility. As MD of the technical department he has been responsible for R&D, production, quality and sales of OE tires.
Wendt intensified knowledge sharing between research and production and contributed decisively to the fact that the Breuberg plant was awarded the Pirelli Factory Award in 2015 and 2016.
