Goodyear has announced the appointment of Ellis Jones, effective September 2, as its new vice president and chief sustainability officer. Jones will report to Chris Helsel, the tire manufacturer’s senior vice president of global operations and chief technology officer.
“Sustainability has an increasingly important role in Goodyear’s future, from the perspectives of our associates, our investors and our customers,” commented Helsel. “Ellis is the right leader to drive sustainability in our products, organization and across our manufacturing footprint to meet growing expectations.”
Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Hampton University and a master’s degree in business operational excellence from the Ohio State University. He has spent 30 years within the Goodyear company and has held numerous positions including vice president of global EHS&S and business continuity.
Jones also led race tire manufacturing at the company’s Akron, USA-based headquarters, and has held other positions within Goodyear’s finance, marketing and supply network sectors.
