As of May 1, 2023, Jorge Almeida has taken over from Claus Petschick as head of sustainability at Continental Tires. Moving forward, he will be tasked with the strategic positioning and global management of the tire maker’s sustainability operations. He will report directly to Christian Kötz, head of the tires group sector and member of the executive board of Continental.
Almeida has worked for Continental for 28 years. Before becoming head of sustainability, he held key company positions including being responsible for all business activities of the tires group sector in the Andina region – covering Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela – and also as the head of purchasing and strategic sourcing for the rubber sector and group indirect materials.
Petschick is retiring after a 30-year tenure with the tire manufacturer.
“I would like to expressly thank Claus Petschick for his outstanding commitment,” said Kötz. “He has contributed significantly to the success of Continental Tires in various functions over a period of more than 30 years. Most recently, he strategically realigned and drove forward our sustainability activities. Our comprehensive sustainability strategy bears his signature.
“We want to become the most progressive tire manufacturer in terms of environmental and social responsibility. Jorge Almeida will now consistently develop our sustainability strategy and ensure its global implementation. He can build on a broad foundation and the strong support of our highly motivated tires team. I wish him all the best and every success in his new role.”
