Triangle Tire USA’s vice president of finance and operations, Campbell Metcalfe, is to become CEO following the retirement of present CEO Manny Cicero. The appointment will be effective from June 30, 2021.
Having begun his career in the tire industry back in 1978 as a consumer relations specialist for Michelin, Cicero has held several other top positions at leading tire manufacturers. In 1984, he joined Bridgestone, eventually working his way up to run the company’s OTR tire business.
Cicero joined Triangle in December 2015 as CEO of the then recently established Triangle Tire USA subsidiary. During this time, Cicero helped establish Triangle’s presence in the US market, while growing the company’s brand equity. Cicero also succeeded in “shifting the company’s distribution strategy away from brokers to long-term US distribution partners,” commented a Triangle official.
Under his leadership at Triangle, a US team was formed, alongside the establishment of several company warehouses in Nashville, Tennessee, and Escondido, California. He also aided in boosting Triangle’s OTR and its specialty tire sales in the USA.
“I made a five-year commitment to Triangle when I joined the company in late 2015,” commented Cicero. “I went past that by about six months. I feel proud that the brand made good progress in the US during that time and is well-positioned for the future. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the customers and team members who have supported Triangle Tire USA during the past five years and who have supported me personally through more than four decades in the industry.”
Following his retirement, Cicero will continue to serve Triangle in an advisory role.
