New bespoke tires developed by Pirelli for McLaren Senna

Pirelli has engineered two bespoke tires for the new McLaren Senna. This includes an extreme version of both the P Zero Trofeo – which while conceived as a track tire can also be used for the road; and the P Zero – by nature a road tire but also suitable for usage on track.

Engineers relied on lessons learned from motorsport, as well as experience from previously working with McLaren. They paid particular attention to materials to achieve all the key objectives, and have adopted a lightweight design.

The McLaren Senna has 800hp, an extremely light carbon fiber chassis, a sophisticated racing-derived suspension system, and aerodynamics. These characteristics require made-to-measure tires capable of withstanding extreme acceleration and aerodynamic loads.

The combination of all these elements is said to provide balance and roadholding, with precise turn-in, impressive stability and maximum traction under all driving conditions, as well as reduced braking distances.

In particular, the special tread design with asymmetric profiles and sidewalls provides high lateral grip and maximizes the interaction between front and rear axles.
