Goodyear launches retread line

Goodyear is launching its TreadMax retread lines simultaneously with the introduction of its new tires. The inclusion of the KMax and Fuel Max lines in retread means that Goodyear now offers its full range of commercial vehicle tires as mold cure retreads, which Goodyear says provide performance close to that of new tires and keeps operating costs down.

To ensure a high-quality tire, only Goodyear max technology casings are used for TreadMax retreads, using the same materials, tread designs and technology as the new tires they replicate.

The new product portfolio comprises the TreadMax KMax D and TreadMax FuelMax D drive tires, and TreadMax KMax T and TreadMax FuelMax T trailer tires.

“Until now, truck operators have had to buy new tires in order to experience the benefits offered from the latest products that have been introduced. With TreadMax KMax and FuelMax those benefits are available now, and will help to further decrease costs per kilometre for our customers,” said Leszek Szafran, director retread operations EMEA.

Meanwhile, the tire maker has revealed that its winter tire UltraGrip 8 has been fitted on rims over 7,000,000 times in Europe since it was first launched in 2011. The numbers were announced as the 7 millionth winter tire left the factory for a customer in Europe. Assuming that all cars fitted received four tires, that means that some 1,750,000 cars in Europe’s winter regions were, or are, driving on UltraGrip8 during the coldest months of the year.
