BST eltromat International – Stronger Together!

By the merger, the long-established companies BST International and eltromat combined their expertise and know-how to a strong brand: BST eltromat International. Thus they are the leading full-service provider for quality assurance and production optimization for the web processing industry. BST eltromat offers solutions for web guiding, web inspection, 100% inspection, color measurement, register control, automation, layer thicknesses and basis weight measurement.

From extrusion and curing, all the way to customer-specific automation of partial areas of production – for 20 years now, BST eltromat has been a strong and competent, global partner for all leading tire manufacturers, offering highly efficient and yet remarkably low-maintenance systems, especially for quality and process control.

BST eltromat’s products and solutions for tire industry:

  • Web guide control systems for all manufacturing processes
  • Web tension measuring systems
  • Intelligent, high-precision web guiding sensors
  • Profile scan systems for extrusion profiles
  • Thickness measurement systems
  • High performance camera systems
  • Intelligent controllers

With a number of intelligent innovations and time-proven solutions BST eltromat International underline its technologically leading position in quality assurance and automation solutions for the web-oriented process steps in tire production. One example is the CCD CAM 100, a high-performance camera, which has been further developed both for web guiding and for innovative inspection tasks. Solutions from BST eltromat for measuring the thickness and width of rubber webs are the CS 400 and CS 500 systems, for the quality control of innerliners.

High-performance camera for web guiding and new tasks in inspection
The advanced development of the CCD CAM 100 high-end line scan camera from BST eltromat – which has a resolution of 60,000 pixels and can be used both in web guiding and also in width measurement – is characterized by an outstanding speed of up to 10 kHz in combination with extremely simple operation and setup. BST eltromat designed this high-performance camera not only to meet the demands of web guiding, but also for future inspection solutions, such as automatic running hole detection where the quality of the rubber webs has previously only been checked at individual points or randomly by point laser triangulation.

"We developed a new technical concept for the CCD CAM 100 that allows the camera to be implemented and set up extremely quickly," says Torsten Probst, BST eltromat’s Senior Project Manager in the company's Business Unit Tire, emphasizing an outstanding USP of this camera in the marketplace. For one thing, the machine operators are guided step-by-step by the intuitive operating menu on the touch screen monitor, making their work much easier and giving them high reliability.

Solutions for every demand on thickness measurement
The BST eltromat product portfolio also includes a suitable solution for virtually any requirement when it comes to thickness measurement in tire production – that's the company's message in this product segment. The CS 500 profilometer presented by BST eltromat in Hanover is an innovative, easy-to-operate, high-end system for 100% inspection in inner liner production using calenders, and was developed specifically for thickness and width measurement. The surface of a precision measuring roll serves as the reference line in this context. The CS 500 is based on 2D laser triangulation sensor technology and controls the rubber material with a laser line at up to 60 positions with the help of the non-contact light section method. The system can also be equipped with two laser sensors on request. BST eltromat adapts the mechanical frame of this profilometer to individual customer requirements.
