GVD Corporation offers a next generation mold release solution for tire manufacturers. RapidRelease™, a permanent release coating, offers long term performance without affecting tire appearance. The unique process applies an ultra-thin layer of solid, non-stick polymer that is chemically identical to Teflon™ PTFE across the mold surface. Years of development, qualification, and usage by leaders in the industry have proven the benefit of RapidRelease™ technology, with more than 20 million tires produced to date.

GVD coating specialists will work side-by-side with plant managers to develop solutions that help exceed productivity targets. Using RapidRelease™, tire design and development teams have found a way to release new, aggressive tread patterns and stickier rubber compounds from the mold.

The benefits of longer lifetimes, lower solvent usage, and less environmental impact has attracted funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support the ongoing development of RapidRelease™. In particular, GVD’s services eliminate the use of PFOA surfactants commonly used in fluoropolymer permanent release coatings.

Designed to last, RapidRelease™ offers significant advantages to a tire manufacturing line:

  • Enable release of aggressive designs and compounds
  • Retain sharp and complex design features
  • Compatible with all vent types
  • Decrease curing defects and scrap generation
  • Reduce cleaning frequency of the mold
